Hughes Encourages Canadians to Visit AMK
OTTAWA – “Canadians are looking forward to the summer activities and seeing all that this great country has to offer. For those looking for a great tourist destination, Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing has it all.” This was the message MP Carol Hughes had for Parliamentarians and Canadians looking for a great summer getaway as the season quickly approaches.
With a riding the size, scope, and diversity of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, the message is clear: it has something to offer for everyone looking for a great destination.
“Kapuskasing will celebrate their biggest party of the year with their St. Jean Festival.
The Iron Bridge Music Festival has a great line up of musicians. Be sure to also add Manitoulin Country Fest and St. Joseph Island’s Go North Music Festival to your schedule.
Learn about Indigenous culture by attending National Indigenous Peoples Day events or the many powwows, including the 60th Wiikwemkoong Annual Cultural Festival.”
These were just a few of the many festivals and events MP Hughes encouraged Canadians to enjoy. The problem she ran into was the limited amount of time MPs have for statements in the House of Commons.
“We have one minute, and I was merely able to scratch the surface of how much AMK has to offer tourists,” Hughes said. “I made sure to promote tourism in every corner of the riding, to give a birds eye view of the many events that really get people excited, but there’s so many more Pow-Wows, food festivals, fishing derbies, concerts, pride events, and more that Canadians need to experience in this unique part of our country.”
