Hughes, CRA, and Royal Canadian Legion Organize Volunteer–Run Income Tax Clinics
March 1st, 2010 - 2:00am
Wawa – Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes is proud to have assisted in the organization of free income tax preparation clinics to be held every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 1 and 3 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 429, in Wawa, until the end of April.
The clinics are free to all families with a yearly income of up to $35,000 or to individuals with a yearly income of up to $25,000. The Canada Revenue Agency has graciously supplied computers, as well as training for the generous volunteers who are taking time out of their schedules to help those who need assistance preparing their income tax. Individuals who wish to take part need only show up with their relevant paperwork, such as T4 slips, receipts for rent and tuition, anything that may be tax deductible.
“With all of the new and updated tax incentives, I’m happy to be involved in helping families get the most out of their tax returns,” Hughes said. “Tax season can often seem like a substantial burden for those who find filing overly complicated. With the aid of some outstanding volunteers, I’m certain that this can help take the headache out of filing for some of the citizens of Wawa.”
