HUGHES AND BISSON EXTEND CONDOLENCES TO FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES AFTER HELICOPTER CRASH NEAR KAPUSKASING

Ottawa – Wednesday’s tragic helicopter crash near Clear Lake which took the life of three Northern Ontario residents will echo throughout the communities of Kapuskasing and North Bay for a long time.   Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP, Carol Hughes is joining with her provincial counterpart, Timmins-James Bay MPP, Gilles Bisson in sending their condolences to the families and friends of pilot, Greg Sawyer, 39, of North Bay and his two passengers, Dan Simis, 47, of Val Rita, and Chad McQuade, 37, of Kapuskasing.

“Naturally, we are saddened by this accident and extend our deepest sympathies to everybody dealing with this tragic loss,” said Hughes who honoured the victims in the House of Commons on Friday.

“A tragedy like this affects their families, friends, co-workers and employers and cuts to the heart of the close-knit communities we have in Northern Ontario,” said Hughes.  “It serves as a reminder of how precious life is.”

“Any time we hear about this kind of tragedy we are reminded how circumstance can change quickly and that we shouldn’t take things for granted,” added Bisson.  “The important thing now is for the communities to come together in grieving and to support the families that will be reeling as they come to terms with their loss.”
